Prof. Doosam Song (Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture), The Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineers of Japan Receives 'Uichi Inouye Memorial Award-Asis International Award'



Professor Doosam Hong from the Department of Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture has been selected as this year's recipient of the "Uichi Inouye Memorial Award-Asis International Award," presented by The Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineers of Japan in recognition of his contributions to research, development, and education in the field of air conditioning and environmental engineering.


This award was established in 2010 by The Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineers of Japan to honor the achievements of Professor Uichi Inouye (Waseda University, 1918-2009), who established the theory of architectural facilities in Japan and trained numerous researchers and experts in the field. It is presented annually to one researcher of international caliber.


Professor Song has published numerous papers of international standard in the field of architectural environmental facilities and has contributed significantly to the advancement of the field of architectural environmental facilities, having trained approximately 72 master's and doctoral students, with 7 of them appointed as professors.


The Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineers of Japan, founded in 1917, is a representative academic organization in Japan that celebrates its 106th anniversary this year. It plays a significant role in the development of Japan's refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and sanitary facilities industries to a global standard.


Professor Song previously received the society's academic paper award in 2009. The award ceremony took place on May 12th at the Meiji Memorial Hall in Tokyo, Japan, and Professor Song also delivered a special lecture titled "2050 Carbon Neutral Strategy of Korea in the Building Sector" as part of the award ceremony.
