Successful Completion of SKK GSB’s Mini MBA Sessions
at 12th Asian Leadership Conference

  1. On June 30 and July 1, 2021, the 12th Asian Leadership Conference was held at the Shilla Hotel, Seoul by Chosun Media Group. SKK GSB participated in the conference, successfully holding two mini-MBA sessions: AI Superpowers, moderated by Dean Eric Shih and Institutional Investing: From Superman to Ironman, moderated by Vice Dean Raunaq Pungaliya.

The first session, AI Superpowers, introduced big data and machine learning for business, covering big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in various industries such as manufacturing, product management, transportation, and healthcare. Ms. Eileen Lowry, Director of Product Management at IBM Business Automation, spoke about business automation and the power of AI to optimize decision-making. Following this, Mr. Injong Rhee, CTO of Bowery Farming (a modern farming company), discussed AI and machine learning in IoT applications in many aspects of our daily life, and addressed key challenges that these technologies present.

The second session—Institutional Investing: From Superman to Ironman—introduced big data and machine learning for finance and investment. Prof. Youngju Nielsen of SKK GSB presented how AI can be an aid to investment, akin to Superman augmenting his powers with technology to become more like Iron Man. The latter half of this session was led by Dr. Andrea Gentilini, CEO of Novus, a leading portfolio analytics firm. He added that the investment world is now at “the dawn of the Iron Man Era” and argued how an emphasis on digitization and analytics can help institutional investors improve investment outcomes.

Both sessions highlighted SKK GSB’s continued emphasis on AI and analytics in shaping the future of business. This was SKK GSB’s first time sharing experts’ thoughts with students and entrepreneurs at the Asian Leadership Conference, and the school looks forward to joining again next year with timely topics that can attract a broad audience and guide the response to future global challenges.
