The Alumni Association of the Department of English Language and Literature Visits Alumni Company

The alumni association of the Department of English Language and Literature (President, Ohsik Kwon) held an alumni company visit event on October 8 (Sat).

This event was planned as a fruitful event with a tour of the company of alumni entrepreneurs who succeeded in harmonizing and developing the English Literature Alumni Association and a tour of the region.

The bus, which departed from Yangjae Station at 12:30 on the same day, arrived at Dangjin Hapdeok Indus Park General Industrial Complex, where the smart campus of Dangjin Vitzro Cell (CEO: Seungkook Jang) is located, and visited the smart campus by listening to alumni Jang’s explanation.

Vitzro Cell was established in 1987 as Korea’s No. 1 and World’s No. 3 lithium primary battery producer and has achieved rapid growth every year by introducing Wilson Greatbatch’s technology in 1998 and achieving a $50 million export tower in 2014, but in 2017, 90% of the company buildings were burned down in a fire. However, after making all-out efforts under the banner of “Think Different, Act Different”, the Dangjin Smart Campus was completed in 2018 and achieved an export tower of $70 million in 2019, and was selected as Forbes’ “Top 200 Promising Companies in Asia-Pacific” in 2020. Vitzro Cell is still working toward the goal of KRW 700 billion in sales and KRW 150 billion in net profit in 2030.

After the tour, the group visited Chusa House, Chusa Memorial Hall, and Baeksong Park in turn, and had dinner at Sobok Galbi, a famous restaurant in Yesan. President Kwon said, “A successful alumni like CEO Jang is a great pride of the Department of English Language and Literature. As it is a meaningful meeting attended by Sohyun Lee and Yesom Jo on behalf of students, we will continue to work to raise the pride of alumni and students as alumni president, and hold various events to strengthen ties between alumni and provide opportunities to strengthen friendship.”
