The Center for Teaching and Learning has released an e-book and video series titled "Master’s Program Guide: Insights from Seniors on Graduate School Life and the Process of Thesis Research”

The Center for Teaching and Learning (Director Dong-ho Kim) has published an e-book and video series titled "Master’s Program Guide: Insights from Seniors on Graduate School Life and the Process of Thesis Research” to assist our graduate students in adapting to graduate school and writing their theses, as well as to provide guidance for students interested in graduate school and the general public.

The e-book and videos contain information on topics such as ▲ preparation for admission to our graduate school ▲ the process of thesis writing ▲ factors causing academic crises and coping strategies.

Specifically, starting from defining what a master's program is and what a thesis entails, the content covers setting research topics, finding advisors, major tasks for each semester, graduation requirements, crises that may arise during the master's program, and how to deal with them, based on interviews with current students.

In the section on preparation before admission to the master's program, the guide advises clarifying the purpose and reasons for graduate school admission, setting areas of interest, and guiding the process of finding an advisor. The major tasks during the master's program, explain what tasks should be completed during which periods, credit requirements for each cohort, general enrollment procedures, the sequence of research activities, preparation for thesis submission exams, and thesis writing and graduation preparation. Additionally, it presents crisis factors and coping strategies, such as a lack of understanding about graduate school life and difficulties in self-management, based on group interviews with graduate students from Sungkyunkwan University.

The Center expects that the material will be useful not only to current students, from those newly admitted to those in the process of preparing their theses but also to those interested in graduate school.

The e-book "Research Guide" has been produced in three languages – Korean, English, and Chinese – to ensure accessibility for graduate students with diverse linguistic backgrounds.

A representative from the Center for Teaching and Learning stated, "We have included advice and guidance necessary for overcoming the challenges encountered at the beginning and end of graduate school life, as well as during thesis writing," and expressed hope that graduate students will progress more effectively through their degree programs and achieve outstanding results in their studies and research.
