The success of the 24th Higher Education Innovation Workshop by the Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education



The Knowledge Center for University Innovative Higher Education, led by Director Se-young Lee, held the 24th Higher Education Innovation Workshop on December 21st at the 600th Anniversary Hall on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, focusing on the theme 'Realizing the Social Value and ESG of Universities.' In this workshop, in-depth discussions took place on the impact of universities on society and ESG management, including its meaning and implementation methods.


The workshop featured presentations such as ▲ 'University and ESG Management' by Director  Nam-seok Hong of the Korea ESG Management Institute ▲ 'Innovation Efforts of Gachon University ESG Center: Expansion to Environment and Governance with a Focus on Contribution (S)' by Professor Jae-eun Yoo of Gachon University ▲ 'ESG Perspectives Reflected in University Education: Case Study of Non-curricular Programs at Sungkyunkwan University' by Research Fellow Sun-hwa Park of Sungkyunkwan University. Subsequently, during the comprehensive discussion session, participants exchanged diverse opinions on the future of university education and social responsibility.

Over 100 professors, researchers, and students from across the country used this workshop as an opportunity to broaden their understanding of the social value of universities and ESG management, as well as to explore practical implementation strategies. Participants expressed high satisfaction with the information and discussions provided by the workshop, noting that they gained profound insights into the direction of future university education.


Professor Se-young Lee, the Director of the Knowledge Center for Innovative Higher Education, stated in the welcome address, "I hope that today's workshop becomes an important starting point for universities to realize social value and implement ESG principles in education, research, and overall university operations" and expressed hope that the workshop, which explores new directions in university education and shares specific strategies for sustainable development, was a valuable time for all participants.

The Center announced its plans to continue addressing challenges faced by university education and seeking a path toward sustainable development for a better future by organizing regular workshops and forums that promote innovative and socially valuable university education."
