Sungkyunkwan University Human Rights and Development Center announced, that it will be holding an 36th Human Rights Workshop, ‘Toward A Global Human rights Culture?’ on May 19, at the Humanities & Social Science Campus 600th anniversary Hall. Michigan University Sociology professor Kiyoteru Tsutsui will be hosting the event, while Staford University professor Francisco Ramirez, world known scholar in Women’s Right, will be giving a lecture.
Professor Ramirez holds a doctorate in sociology from Staford University, and is a world renown specialist in comparative education and women’s right. The host, Prof. Tsutsui, who also is a panelist, is a Japanese American scholar of Sociology, known for advocating social responsibility of cooperations.
“We organized this event to discuss and find out ways on the direction Korea’s global human right’s research should be heading in the backdrop of a fast changing society.” said Prof. Gu Jung-woo who heads the Human Rights and Development Center ”we hope that the event will provide a good opportunity for reserachers who wish to study in human rights to get to know research from world renowned scholars in the field”.
