Prof. Yongseok Kwon (Department of Pharmacy)

Selected as POSCO TJ Park Foundation’s Science Fellowship

Prof. Yongseok Kwon (Department of Pharmacy) was selected as the 14th (2023) POSCO TJ Park Foundation’s Science Fellowship.

The POSCO Science Fellowship is a core research support project of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation, which provides research funds so that young scientists studying basic and applied science in Korea can concentrate on their research and grow into world-class scientists in the future. In particular, this is a project designed to help create an environment in which talented people can continue their research in Korea by providing research funds to young scientists who have just started independent research or experiments.

According to the POSCO TJ Park Foundation, the POSCO Science Fellowship is considered a fellowship that selects the most talented people in the year, and it has established itself as a ‘Scientist Rookie Award’ that must go through to grow into a new scientist.

Prof. Kwon reported in Science (IF 63.798) as the first author in 2021 for asymmetric central regulation using asymmetric catalysts, and published a paper as a corresponding author in Angewandte Chemie (IF 16.823) in the same year with the development of asymmetric axis selective synthesis. Prof. Kwon was highly praised for this point and was selected as a Fellow in the Chemistry field through a fierce competition of nearly 10 to 1, receiving a total of KRW 100 million in research funding for 2 years.
