The Kunsthistorisches Museum Exhibition

: Six Centuries of Beauty in the Habsburg Empire

- Faculty culture events along with the museum

- Yongsan National Museum of Korea exhibits the treasures of the Kunsthistorisches Museum

SKKU Museum (Director Hwan Cho) is currently holding a cultural experience that has been interrupted for the last two years and resumed as we reach the post-COVID era. The main topic of this cultural experience is the special exhibition event of Yongsan National Museum of Korea: “Six Centuries of Beauty in the Habsburg Empire” where the representative collection of Kunsthistorisches Museum (96 pieces) and masterpieces of art history can be watched: ‘Infanta Margarita Teresa in a Blue Dress’ by Diego Velázquez, ‘Jupiter and Mercury at Philemon and Baucis’ by Peter Paul Rubens, ‘Flowers in a Wooden Vessel’ by Jan Brueghel the Elder

This exhibition rented the representative collections of Austria’s Kunsthistorisches Museum as the commemoration of the 130th Korean and Austria relation establishment anniversary. The Royal Family of Habsburg, ever since they produced the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in the 13th century, has been the royal bloodline that ruled over the empire and the territory of Austria for 600 years, from the 15th to early 20th century, and is, of course, one of the most influential families in Europe.

Among the representative collections of Renaissance and Baroque art pieces assembled by the Habsburg Royal Family from the 15th to 20th century, 96 pieces including paintings, crafts, armors, and tapestries that shed light on Austrian history and culture will be introduced. Also, masterpieces of the greatest artists from the west such as Peter Paul Rubens, Diego Velázquez, Tintoretto, Veronese, Antony van Dijk, and Jan Stein can be met. The armor and helmet that the King of Joseon at the time of diplomatic relation establishment, King Gojong, presented will also be exhibited in this exhibition especially, which amplifies the significance of the 130th diplomatic relation anniversary. We hope you meet the deepening autumn mood through a high-quality cultural tour prepared by the museum.
