Selected as Sejong Books Academic Field in 2022

The book Boyoung Jeon authored, ‘Understanding of Family for Happy Life’ (co-authored by Boyoung Jeon, Bokyung Bin, and Yeojin Choi), was selected for the 2022 Sejong Book Selection, in academic field.

An individual is included in a family, and that family is included in society. In this context, this book helps readers to understand the overall concept of individual, family, and society. This book is filled with the basic knowledge of self-understanding, love, marriages and various life choices, and interactions between a family for people preparing future lives.

People of the contemporary generation prefer to live their own life based on independent choices than following traditions and conventions. They are willing to choose and decide for themselves, for example, whether they will live alone, get married, marry whom, and bear children. However, these are not easy choices to make and furthermore are very careful choices to make because all the responsibilities due to those choices belong to themselves. This book contains helpful content when deciding upon such life choices. Also, it discusses various ways of interactions needed for living a healthy, happy life such as communication, conflict, authority, stress, role allocation, and performance.

Lecturer Jeon is currently teaching a course called ‘Understanding the Modern Family’, which uses ‘Understanding of Family for Happy Life’ as the main textbook in SKKU, and was selected as ‘Instructor of Excellent Lecture Assessment’ in 2017 and 2019.
