SKKU Signs Battery Expert Fostering Process Contract with Samsung SDI

- Starting from 2023 to 2032, about 100 Master/Doctoral degree students 

with Samsung SDI scholarships will be selected


SKKU signed ‘SKKU-Samsung SDI Battery Human Resource Fostering Process’ with Samsung SDI on November 11th (Friday). The ceremony of the contract, held in the Natural Science Campus, was attended by Dong Ryeol Shin (SKKU President), Sun-Kyu Park (Executive Vice President of Natural Sciences Campus), Jaedo Nam (Dean of SKKU Institute for Convergence), Prof. Won Sub Yoon (Department of Energy Science), Yoonho Choi (Samsung SDI CEO), Hyuk Jang (Head of Samsung SDI Research Center), Jungjun Park (Samsung SDI Small Battery Business Department Development Manager), and Jaewoo Ahn (Samsung SDI Human Resources Director).


SKKU signed an agreement with Samsung SDI and decided to operate a human resource development course to develop future-generation secondary battery technology. It plans to train key personnel in battery materials, cells, and systems through customized training.


Through this training course, a total of 100 Samsung SDI scholarship students will be selected for 10 years from 2023 to 2032. Students selected for the master’s/doctorate courses can participate in training programs and contests supported by Samsung SDI, conducting related research along with completing battery subjects.


Students who complete the course will receive individual scholarships during the degree course and will join Samsung SDI upon graduation.


SKKU President Shin, said, “By combining the efforts of our faculty and generous support from Samsung SDI, it would be good to have high expectations for producing excellent battery talent that will lead the future.”


Samsung SDI CEO Choi, said, “In order to become a global top-tier company by 2030, we will systematically support and invest in talented people who will lead the battery industry in the future by strengthening super-difference technology competitiveness.”
