On April 9th, the Vice-President of Sun Yat-sen University visited SKKU to discuss future cooperation with Vice-President Hongjun YOO and a group of professors (Vice-President of International Office and the Director of Sungkyun Institute of China Studies).
Two universities made an agreement in 2012, but academic exchange was limited to the area of Humanities and Social sciences. The main agenda of this visit was to discuss about new opportunities for cooperation.
▷Expanding curriculum for exchange: open opportunities to exchange both Undergraduate/Graduate students
▷Expanding areas of academic exchange: expand to areas outside of humanities such as: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Medical/Pharmacy, East Asian Studies, interdisciplinary programs, researches in Sungkyun Institute of China Studies (Interrelation between China and Korean Peninsula), technology (5G, AI), Belt and Road Initiative, and Graduate School of China.
Sun Yat-sen University is a prestigious university in China founded by Sun Yat-sen, the founder of Guomindang. It was founded due to the merger of several schools in the Guangdong province in 1924. The university is ranked 224th place in the world ranking (US News) and within 10th place in China.
