1. 자기소개 (Self-introduction)

 내 이름은 Bilynets Inna이고 나이는 22살, 한국 나이로는 24살이다. 나는 우크라이나인이지만, 체코의 아름답고 오래된 수도 프라하에서 살면서 공부했다. 다른 나라에서 자랐기 때문에 취미가 새로운 언어를 배우는 것일 정도로 다양한 문화와 언어 교류에 관심을 가지게 되었다. 그리고 역사에도 관심이 많아서 시간이 날 때면 역사책을 읽으면서 다른 나라의 과거에 대해 새로운 사실을 배우는 것을 좋아한다.

 내가 태어난 우크라이나는 놀라운 자연과 맛있는 음식을 즐길 수 있고, 성실하고 친절한 많은 사람들을 만날 수 있는 나라다. 만약 당신이 도움을 요청한다면 그들은 언제라도 도움을 줄 준비가 되어 있는, 낯선 사람들에게도 따듯한 나라다. 키이브(Kyiv)와 리비브(L’viv) 등 많은 도시들이 1000년 역사를 지니고 있기 때문에 어디를 가든 역사적인 명소를 발견할 수 있다.

 나는 우크라이나 출신이지만 대부분의 삶을 체코에서 보내서 프라하는 나에게 제2의 고향이 되었다. 프라하는 사랑에 빠질 수밖에 없는 정말 멋진 도시다. 역사와 현대성이 어우러진 작고 안락한 거리를 걸으며 자유를 느낄 수 있다.

 Hello! My name is Bilynets Inna and I am 22 years old (already 24 in Korean age). I am Ukrainian, but actually I am living and studying in a beautiful old European capital city Prague. (Czech Republic). Growing up in area where different nationalities were located made me interested in culture and language exchange and study. So I can say that learning new languages is my hobby. I am also interested in history and when I have some free time, I like to grab some history book and learn something new about the past of different countries.

 Ukraine is a country where you can enjoy an amazing nature, delicious food and to meet so many sincere and helpful people. All of them are ready to help you in any moment, doesn’t matter if they know you or not. A lot of cities such as Kyiv and L’viv care 1000 years old history, and you can find some historical sights everywhere you go.

 Even though I am from Ukraine, but I have spent most of my life living in Czech Republic. And I think Prague became a second home for me. And this city is unbelievable! It combines history and modernity and walking through the tiny but so comfortable streets you can feel the freedom. And it is impossible not to fall in love with that city.

2. 한국에서의 삶 (Life in Korea)

1) 한국에 오게 된 계기 (What made you came to Korea?)

 모든 것이 한국 문화에 대한 가벼운 관심에서 시작되었다. 어느 날 친구가 K-pop과 한국 드라마를 소개해줬는데, 그런 매체를 통해 본 한국어가 너무 특이하고 새로워 보여서 한번 배워보기로 마음먹었다. 나는 몇몇 어학 코스를 찾아봤는데, 운 좋게도 내가 살던 도시에서 좋은 어학 코스를 찾을 수 있었다. 그리고 가장 좋았던 점은 한 학기 동안 한국을 방문할 기회가 생겼다는 것이다. 그때 나는 대구에서 공부하고 있었고 한국 문화에 푹 빠져있었다. 결국 한국에 대해 점점 더 배우고 싶어서 전공을 바꾸기로 결심했고 지금은 프라하의 샤를르 대학에서 한국학을 공부하고 있다.

 Everything started with a light interest in Korean culture. One day my friend introduced me to K-pop and Korean dramas and when I saw the language it looked so unusual and new for me, so I decided to try to learn it. I have searched for some language courses and gladly I found some good one in my city. And the best part was that I have got a chance to visit Korea for one semester. That time I was studying in Daegu and totally felt in love with Korean culture. That made me to want to learn more and more about Korea, so I decide to change my major. And now I am a student of Korean studies in Charles university in Prague.

2) 한국에서 기억에 남는 장소 (Where is the most memorable place in Korea?)

 불행히도 이번에는 COVID-19의 상황 때문에 원하는 만큼 자유롭게 여행을 할 수 없었지만, 대구에 머무르고 있을 때는 여행할 기회가 많아서 많은 곳을 가보았다. 부산에 여러 번 가본 적이 있는데, 나는 부산이 살기 가장 좋은 도시라고 말하고 싶다. 거대한 마천루와 바다, 수많은 오래된 절들, 맛있는 음식까지, 행복하기 위해 필요한 모든 것이 부산에 있다고 나는 생각한다. 또한 안동과 경주에 가서 한국 역사에 대한 새로운 것들을 보고 배울 수 있었다. 하지만, 울릉도와 독도에 갔었던 것이 나에게 가장 기억에 남는 여행이다. 그 숨막히는 풍경들을 나는 오랫동안 잊지 못할 것이다.

 Unfortunately, this time because of the situation with COVID-19, I could not travel as much as I wanted, but I have got so many chances to travel, when I was staying in Daegu. I have been to Busan so many times and I can say that as for me it is the best city to live in. Huge skyscrapers and the sea, many old temples, delicious food is everything you need to be happy I think. Also, I have been to Andong and Gyeoungju where I could see and learn some new things about Korean history. But the most memorable trip for me was my trip to Ulleungdo and Dokdo. Those breathtaking views I will not forget for a long time.

4. 한국 생활의 힘든 점 (What is hard for you at Korea?)

 한국어! 5년 동안 공부했음에도 불구하고 아직 모든 것을 이해하는 것은 어렵다. 또한 집으로 돌아가야 할 때 여기서 사귄 친구들에게 작별인사를 하는 것이 가장 어려울 것 같다. 하지만 나는 많이 친구들이 내 언어 능력을 향상시키는데 도움을 준 것과 내가 어려움을 겪을 때에도 도움을 준 것에 대해 너무 감사한다. 나는 우리가 다시 만날 수 있을 거라고 확신한다.

 Korean language! Even though I have been studying it for 5 years already it is still hard to me to understand everything. Also, the hardest thing is to say goodbye to my friends I have made here when I have to go back home. But I am thankful they have helped me to improve my language skills, helped me when I had some difficulties and I am pretty sure we’ll manage to meet again.

3. 성균관대학교에서의 삶 (Life at SKKU)

1) 성균관대학교에 오게 된 계기 (What made you came to SKKU?)

 프라하에 있을 때 나는 3개의 한국 대학 중 하나를 선택할 기회가 있었다. 하지만 성균관대학교에 대한 대학 친구들의 좋은 평을 많이 들었기 때문에 그 곳에서 공부할 기회가 생겼을 때 확신이 들었다. 성대의 한국어 코스는 훌륭하다. 선생님들은 학생들이 더 열심히 공부하고 가능한 한 많은 지식을 얻도록 동기 부여를 해준다.

Back at home, I had a chance to choose between 3 Korean universities. But after hearing so many good reviews of my university friends that also had chance to study in here, I was pretty sure that I want to study in SKKU. The Korean language course in here is excellent. Teachers motivate you to study harder and to gain as much knowledges as you can.

2) 전공 소개와 전공 선택 이유

 나의 전공은 한국학이다. 한국에 오게 된 계기를 말할 때도 언급했지만 처음에는 한국 문화에 대한 관심일 뿐이었지만, 지금은 내 인생의 큰 부분이 되었기 때문에 거기에 내 인생을 바치기로 했다.

 As I said above, my major is Korean studies. And first it was just an interest in culture, but it became a huge part of my life, so I decided to dedicate my life to it.

3) 성균관대학교의 공부 환경 (How was the environment to study?)

 불행히도 COVID-19 상황 때문에 기숙사 외에는 캠퍼스의 어떤 건물에도 방문할 기회가 없었다. 하지만 모두가 힘든 상황인 지금, 대학과 교수님들은 높은 수준의 온라인 수업을 제공해주어 귀중한 지식을 얻을 수 있었고 공부에 많은 도움을 주었다.

 Again, unfortunately because of the situation, I had no chance to visit any building in the campus except the dormitory. But even though I am glad that university and teachers were able to provide us online classes where I could gain all my valuable knowledges. I know it was hard not only for my but for them as well, but I think they did in on high level and helped me a lot in my studying.

4) 프라하에서 보낸 대학생활과 성균관대학교에서의 대학생활에서 느낀 가장 큰 차이점

 아마 캠퍼스라고 말해야 할 것 같다. 우리 도시에는 그렇게 훌륭한 캠퍼스가 없다. 대학 건물들이 시내 곳곳에 있다. 하지만 이곳에서는 캠퍼스로 들어가는 첫 걸음부터 도서관에 가서 더 열심히 공부하고 싶은 '분위기'를 느낄 수 있었다.

Maybe I should say that it is the campus. Back at home we have no such a great campus, university buildings are all around the city. But here from the first step into the campus you can feel “the atmosphere” that makes you to want to go to the library and study harder.

4. 미래 계획

1) 졸업 후 장래에 이루고 싶은 것 (After graduating, what would you like to accomplish in the future?)

 한국어에 대한 나의 모든 지식을 활용할 수 있고 나에게 즐거움을 줄 수 있는 좋은 직업을 찾을 수 있었으면 좋겠다. 그리고 가능한 한 한국에 올 수 있는 기회가 많이 생겼으면 좋겠다. 왜냐하면 그것이 없는 내 삶은 상상할 수 없기 때문이다.

I would like to be able to use all my knowledge of the Korean language and find a great job that would bring me pleasure. And I hope to get as much chances to come to Korea as it is possible. Because I cannot imagine my life without it.

2) 마지막으로, 성균관대학교 학생들에게 하고 싶은 말 (Is there anything do you want to say to SKKU students?)

“저는 성균관대학교 학생 여러분 모두가 이렇게 놀라운 대학에서 공부할 기회를 가졌다는 것을 감사해야 한다고 말하고 싶어요. 열심히 공부하고, 목표를 달성하세요. 그리고 인생을 즐기는 것을 잊지 마세요!”

I just want to say that all of you have to appreciate that you have got a chance to study in such an amazing university. Study hard, achieve your goals and don’t forget to enjoy your life.
